Starting in the Middle

Having a blog has been a huge part of my websites since I began working professionally for myself nearly twelve years ago. The blog is a great place to talk about current projects, and upcoming shows. It’s been a welcome break from production and opportunity to download my thoughts about work, art, and about my community. Writing about my artwork,… Read more »

It’s watercolor Wednesday again, and I’ve got some more dinosaurs to share with you. This week, I have one more that’s been illustrated in a more “portrait” style, the Brachiosaurus. Ultimately, this painting going to be collected together with the Parasaurolophus, Stegosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Velociraptor, and Pentaceratops for a Penny Loves Dinosaurs matching game and also an expansion set of Story… Read more »

There are multiple shows for kids featuring dinosaurs, including Dinosaur Train which engages kids on a variety of levels and is frankly pretty… Read more »

Stegosaurus is my favorite dinosaur, so my daughter Abby drew one for me. While cutting it out, I got to thinking about it’s tail. Reading about Stegosaurus, I learned that they have two rows of two spikes on their tails, but Abby’s looked more like an Anklyosaurus tail to me. Which got me thinking about familys of Dinosaurs and whether… Read more »

So the first week of INKtober is behind us and I’m already a couple of days behind because I was out of the studio at a three day show. We’ve still got the whole month to catch up though, right? In case you haven’t heard of INKtober before, here’s the low down, and you can find more info on the… Read more »

Penny Loves Dinosaurs – Merit Badges

Comments Off on Penny Loves Dinosaurs – Merit Badges

We’re super excited about the New Merit-Badges we made for shows. Right now, they’re a show exclusive, and we’re still working out the details for how you can get them. Penny really wants to give them away instead of sell them, so we might have a some sort of photo scavenger hunt or drawing trade for them.

Watercolor Wednesday – Dinosaur Shadowboxes

Today’s Watercolor Wednesday is kind of unusual. Obviously, these aren’t straight watercolors, but this was always kind of the direction I was headed for when starting the Penny Loves Dinosaurs project. Collaboration of ideas between different artists, materials and techniques.  The Pteranodon in this illustration was done by eight year old Makynzi, at the Saint Louis Science Center earlier this… Read more »
